Betty Dress - by Angie Newall

Today I wanted to share another one of my 1930-40's dresses that I made. This one I named Betty because it just hit me out of the blue.

Now of course it's not like the white one in the picture below but I liked it and wanted to make one with an open belly like that one has. I like the white and may have to make one like it too.

I was informed that showing the open belly at this point in time was "taboo"and that I couldn't sell it in the rp sim, but however after some research I found out that this was becoming popular with the ladies. I got my information here .

And here's a little about what the site has to say about it:

Beaded crepe cocktail dress, 1940s

This Hollywood style dress has the built-up shoulders made popular by MGM designer Adrian in his designs for Joan Crawford (Letty Lynton,1932). The style really took hold after America entered WWII. The shoulder pads signified the woman who lives her life to the full, the self-made woman.

The hard line of the shoulders is softened by the softly draped sleeves and outrageous bare midriff. The bias-cut skirt peplum flares to a deep "V" in back. The dress is fashioned from white rayon crepe and is decorated with bands of clear crystal beading with accents of pale amber beads. The dress closes in back with a metal zipper. The straight skirt has a small slit at the center-back hem.

The dress brings to mind Veronica Lake in the 1940s film noir, The Blue Dahlia. She plays the beautiful, mysterious stranger meeting Alan Ladd for the first time. Her memorable line was "Practically all the people I know were strangers when I first met them." But they won't forget her—or you in this dress!

I love that quote by Veronica and my just have to put it in my profile. :)

This one will be up for grabs soon. Just wanted to share it with ya.

Amy Dress - by Angie Newall

New today I made this Amy dress from the television Show, "Gossip Girl". Some of you may know it, however I don't think I've seen the show yet. The dress is an original design of Temperly London's Zola Mini Dress that Blair wore in the show. (Heh, I did a little bit of research.)

You'll see the original dress below that was designed by Temperly and I love the style because it's perfect for modern day and also for the 1940's era. I wanted to do something that I could wear now and also in the rp (roleplay) sims.

This dress comes with a top, skirt, and black accent bow. Sorry the pumps aren't included nor the hair but you can find the hair at Tami McCoy's awesome hair store!

Rags and Riches!

Cream Daydress - Comfortable and Stylish by Angie Newall

Today I wanted to share with you a couple of outfits I have coming out for Balliamo's Grand Opening! The dress above is a 1940's Cream Daydress that the ladies wore back in the day. These ladies would wear these dresses and do chores around the house and run errands in... today they are commonly known as "housewives". You'll be quite comfy in this!

"A Yummy Apology" - Lacy Underthings by Angie

The lingerie and naughty "underthings" back in the 1930's and 1940's made several ladies very popular like Ms Betty Page and a few others. These ladies helped entertain the men in the service at that time and here is a new set of lingerie that'll be available also for you to purchase. I did my best to make something similiar to the design below.

Welcome to Balliamo Designs! What does Balliamo mean? Well it means "Will you dance with me?" in Italian and I loved this name as I love to dance and love anything Italian.

Balliamo Designs is created by Angie Newall of Second Life and she enjoys designing all types of clothing... designs from the early 1800's, dresses from the 1930's, modern day 2009 outfits and even some modern day erotica items. Keep your eyes and ears open for more information to come and also join the Balliamo Design Group in SL to keep up with new updates and outfits as Angie gets them done.
